You’ve probably heard by now that your business should be on social media. Just in case you haven’t, “Your business should be on social media!” But why? Maybe you’re not looking for influencers, tweeters, or facebook likes. Even if you have a niche business that won’t generate a ton of social media traffic, you should still have social media.

Social media legitimizes your brand. New customers will do a google search when looking for a specific product. They check reviews and look for coupon codes on social media. If you don’t have social media, your prospective client has no way to verify that you are a legitimate company.

Social media increases brand awareness. 75% of online shoppers turn to social media while shopping and 33% of customers find new brands while browsing social media. If you aren’t taking advantage of this free medium, you are missing out.

Social media increases customer service satisfaction. People don’t like spending time on the phone anymore- they want to get in touch digitally! Social media platforms allow you to access your customers directly and for your customers to have direct access to you. Questions can be asked and answered in minutes, problems can be resolved quickly, and business owners and customers can do all of this while checking their facebook.

Let’s say you are the niche business owner I mentioned that doesn’t think they need social media- if you rely on google search results for bringing in customers, then you need social media. Part of your search result ranking relies on social media activity. Do you have a facebook/twitter/linkedin/etc? When was it last updated? What does customer engagement look like? These all factor into your final ranking. If you want to be the #1 google search result for your key words, you need social media.
