Off Page Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be broken into two segments: on page and off page factors. On page factors are anything that is on your actual website. Off page factors are things that aren’t on your actual website that effect your optimization.
Off page factors include many social outlets- like social media presence. It also includes social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is tagging a website with a web-based tool so you can access it later. It’s like the post-it note of the internet. Popular social bookmarking websites include Pinterest, Reddit, Delicious, and Evernote.
Blogs (content and posts) are another off page factor. Blog posts that contain information about your site- specifically keywords and backlinks- increase your off page score. Commenting on blogs that contain information relevant to your business with backlinks will also increase your off page score.
One traditional marketing technique is also an off page factor in your optimization score- press releases. Press releases should be made when something newsworthy happens. Manually submit your press release to top-tier publications and mix up your anchor text. Press releases offer a great opportunity to control inbound anchor text diversity.
